Does anybody know how I can set a scheduled restart to occur reguarly overnight.

I'm sure it can be done but can't find out from where.

Thanks

ok, put the attached file on your desktop and open properties.
change the t time to what ever ( a little math involved )

3600 = 1hr
21600 = 6hrs
28800 = 8hrs
43200 = 12hrs

I saw this somewhere but it only works to do a shutdown.
Open Run and type: at 21:30 shutdown -s

my clock is based on 24hr

I tried reboot, re-boot, restart, etc nothing worked.

ps.
I tried to attach my shortcut but it attached an app so I deleted it.
you have to create a shortcut to do a reboot

Hi Pacinitaly,

thanks for that. I've tried a few things - no success.

I even found it as an option on an application I downloaded but can't remember which one and I think I deinstalled it :cry:

All,

Right, found the app. Its Advanced System Care (free) by IOBit which has this option under Utilities/Admin tools/Auto shutdown, which gives an option to schedule a restart.

However,

I was really looking for a windows option/app rather than rely on a 'freebie', albeit a good one, so as to schedule this task long-term.

You can do this through Task Scheduler. You will need to create a batch file as the program to run at the allotted time.

Capture.PNG

View attachment restart.bat

Save this file in C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Batch (create the folder if it doesn't exist). If you want to hide this folder after creating the task, right-click on it and select Properties. Click on the General tab and click Hidden (should now have a tick in the box) and then OK.

Open the Task Scheduler and in the Actions panel click Create Basic Task...

On the first screen, Create a Basic Task, enter a name and description and then click Next.

The default Task Trigger is what you want, so click Next.
Capture2.PNG

The next screen, Daily (this is the option you selected on the previous screen), appears. Set the time to whatever you want. Here I have got it set at 04:00 (4am). Check the option Synchronize across time zones and then click Next.
Capture3.PNG

The default Action is what is required, so click Next.
Capture4.PNG

On the Start a program screen, click Browse... to locate the batch file saved previously. Note that Dwarf is my username, and that yours will obviously be different. Click Next.
Capture5.PNG

This is the Summary screen. When you are satisfied that everything is as it should be, click on Finish.
Capture6.PNG

You may now close the Task Scheduler. Your computer will now restart at the allotted time. If you wish your computer to logon automatically, please follow the instructions in this Tutorial: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66966-logon-automatically.html
