How do you uninstall and reinstall a program?

Hi,

With a program such as McAfee, make sure you have the product key (and remember, McAfee product keys expire), you then have to use the CD that got sent with your computer, or download a trial version from the McAfee site and then enter your product key.

Hope this helps,

Richard

do you have a paid subscription? you will have to go to there site, and download the version you paid for, unless you have the disc.... to remove it there is a McAfee removal tool, also on there site. McAfee-Antivirus Software and Intrusion Prevention Solutions

if you don't have McAfee yet, there are plenty of good (free) anti virus software AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Reviews and free AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition downloads at Download.com
you must still use the removal tool from McAfee...good luck

***EDIT*** slow typing again, sorry richard !!

Before you reinstall, may I suggest, that you install Microsoft Security Essentials instead. This in conjunction with Malwarebytes is much better protection with less resoucrces used. If interested, I will be very happy to give the links to both. Most here will agree with me.

I don't know. I don't think so since I had mcafee since the day my parents bought my laptop, 3 years ago. My older sibling installed mcafee for me, so I wasn't aware that a subscription fee existed.

Anyways, isn't unisntalling and deleting a program two different things? Can't I just uninstall it and find a location where mcafee is located and reinstall it rather than just downloading it again?

Sorry if I seem like I don't know much.

McCafee is included free by many ISP. Maybe that alone says something.

It must be uninstalled, you cannot just delete it. In addition because it is so insidious, you should go to the website and use their special uninstall tool
