Snipping tool no longer allows saves

New Member
I can no longer save when using the Vista snipping tool. Clicking save as does not bring up the dialogue box that it used to. This has only recently happened and an internet search reveals that the same thing has happened to many people, apparently after the last Windows update.
I have tried the uninstall and reinstall tablet option that has been mentioned elsewhere but it had no effect. Can anyone offer a quick fix?

Hi,

  • Press the Windows Key and R to open the Run dialogue.
  • Type "cmd" and press enter
  • Type in Command Prompt "sfc /scannow" and press enter
  • Wait for the command to finish (can take up to 15 minutes)

And as a work-around, if you have to print your screen and Snipping Tool doesn't work at that moment, you can always hit Prt Sc (with or without the Fn key) and save the printed screen to a Word doc, Notepad, Wordpad, or any photo app.

Thanks for your ideas. I ran tune-up utilities registry clean up manually, I have it set to run automatically once a week. After the first scan it prompted me to run it once again.
The snipping tool then worked properly again after that, so problem solved.
