Vista - Won't defrag

:sa:With Vista, when I try to run the defrag, it just sits there with the little circle turning and NEVER stops. I don't know if it ever runs or not. No report to tell me either. It will do a disk clean up, but no defrag.

Defrag takes a long time. Try to keep the time to a minimum. Get off the net, clean up old files, do a scandisk, first. Mine takes at least one and half hours, to complete. Give it 2 hours, if you still do not get a report, then there is probably some sort of problem.

When I defrag, it takes time to show anything and then I can see the progress.

I'm with stoneys-nutz on this one. To save a lot of mucking around, Auslogics Disk Defrag is very user-friendly, selective, quick and reliable defrag program. Easy on the eyes and customable as well. It'll defrag while you shower, and have a coffee and doughnut.

And it's FREE!

......enjoy your coffee and doughnut.

I've used nothing else but over the past 15 months, and not one problem. The overall appearance and functions have improved immeasurably from the version I first used, and I get a real kick when after analysing my Drives [Laptop and up to 3 attached External HDs], I get the on-screen message......

"Fragmentation at 1% or less, no need to defragment",

but you still have the choice to continue anyway. Enjoy, and post back with thoughts to help others.
