I somehow really messed things up. I have two of the exact same desktops running together. When you click on the Start button and you see the desktop name, they are listed as the exact same name, one under the other. In Windows explorer under the desktop name, the name of the second desktop appears in alphabetical order in the same directory as Documents, Downloads, Favorites, etc. The path for this second exact desktop is c:\users. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this desktop. Everytime I try to delete it, it says it is open (because of course it is a mirror copy of what I am running). Thanks so much.

You could try going to the folder and just delete, unless this is what you tried or
I would try a system restore, although this may not work because you say it
is located in documents.
The next way would be to open a new user account. You can obtain use of all your
programs etc by taking ownership. If you do open a new user account, we will
be happy to show you how to have use of your prgrams etc.
A third way you may want to try is just to change the name of your user
account.
I am sure one of these methods will work.

I will try changing the user account name. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried making another user account because I know that it will work but I have a program (Palm) that is so finicky that whenever I have a new user account I have to spend hours getting it to work. If worse comes to worse, I guess that is what I will have to do. I don't think a restore would work because it is located in the documents. Thanks again.

Just had another thought. You may want to right click on the windows globe. Properties and then restore default settings. Should have thought of that one before. sorry.
