Problems updating windows vista and downloading Itunes

I am recieving error messages when I try to update my system I am also unable to successfully download Itunes as I recieve error message "error occurred during installation of assembly policy 8.0.microsoft.vc80.CRT, version 8.0.50727.403 type win 32 policy public key token=1fc8b3b901e18e3bprocess architecture=x86 Quicktime installs OK, but Itunes install is interruped -- Apple Support install portion is rolled back after this error pops up. I went thru suggested Apple troubleshooting options, got same error. Ran install as administrator from desktop, also did not work. Tried installing both thru apple software updater and directly from Apple website, Has anyone exp these issues?:confused: I have windows vista home premium

Hi,

Install the Visual C++ redist 2005, then VC++ redist 2005 SP1, then VC++ redist 2008, then VC++ redist 2008 SP1. Only restart PC after last one has finished and do them in order, one at a time. This will take quite a long time, let them finish. Then run windows update and select everything, in particular the updates for the VC++ redists (mainly security updates) and restart your PC again. Tell us if anything here fails and any error messages you get. Are any of your applications getting side by side configuration errors? Then try your program install again. Hopefully it will now work. Tell us what happens. Will try and post links later as this post sent off iPhone.

Hope this helps, though you may have already done this.

P.S. You could try sfc /scannow though I really doubt it will help.

Thank you for your suggestion but it allowed me to download both 2005 VC but would not allow 2008 because my system is a 32. Is there a version for a 32 system?

That's okay, now I was able to download the first 2008 but the second 2008 would not download I recieved an error message 1935...... Hr. result 0x8007371B any suggestions?

Don't worry too much, the most important ones are the 2005 ones because that is what your initial error message is complaining about. I will look into it and try and work out what this new error is as it still should not be happening. Sorry about my previous mistake. Will look into this new error message.
