XPS cooling

I am upgrading the PUNY PSU Dell has in this case, along with a new Radeon HD 5770, but I dont think this case cools very well. Especially after installing hotter internals. Is anyone familiar with this case?
How should I proceed? It only has one 120-40mm front!(and PSU)
Any thoughts?

Could you take a few 'perspective' shots like this: (I've rearranged a little since then, but this gives a good overall idea of a total case layout)

It might give us some ideas about fan placement in that XPS of yours.

AAK The heat sink popped off of the processor after loosening forward retaining screws. There seems to be a contact substance that was between the two. Is this going to pose an issue?
I needed to remove the fan to unroute lines that were impossibly placed there and pinched against a capacitor on mobo! Horrible build. What should I be aware of from here? :mad:

Looks like this, only it used to be a couple. And I am fresh out of Thermal compound.( I assume thats what it is)

Yep. Choices are limited.

Without going to the extreme of cutting holes in the case, the only 'real' option would be to place either a 92mm or 120mm fan at the rear of the case to help exhaust ambient heat.

I'd add an exhaust fan and then monitor the temps for a while and then take if from there. You aren't overclocking, so heavy cooling isn't that imperative.

Shnikeys! cleaned how? with what? lol And at T-minus 60 Min. before the new year. (Texas) Ya know...every once in a while, I have a great Idea. This was not one of those moments...I need a drink.

About fans:
there are actually two. One primary frontal -I'm guessing 120mm, mounted attached to the heat sink. As well as a second just below that.(Foxcomm -80mm maybe)
I'm assuming the lower fan to be exhaust, but I ASSUMED Dell could at least assemble a computer in the proper manner...pfft But it sounds sufficient.

Anything Isopropyl Alcohol based, Lint free cloth is good, tissues work ok too, just be careful not to rip it on anything sharp as it'll leave small fibres everywhere.

Do not use anything 'oil based'.

At this stage, I think this may seriously have to be a New Years project

That's a ******* of a layout. One of the reasons I'd never buy these machines.

That would be the heatsink fan.

Depends on which way the airflow is. Normally it would be an intake fan.

Tell me. Hard lesson learned. I wonder if I can get a refund/replacement for subpar build. Had issues from day 2.lol

I can't say I like your chances of a replacement/refund - they tend to frown on warranty voiding acts like opening cases and removing heatsinks

Honestly, I'd get on the piddle, and leave the Dell alone for now and tackle her later when it's not happy hour. Continuing now could only lead to completely f**king something up - like having to replace an entire PC...

If nothing else, you can always leave the side panel open. And some good ceramic thermal paste may help too.

well, I found my thermal material, as well as the proper cleaner/purifier. I've cleaned the sink as well as possible, but I'm wondering if I shouldnt try to protect the processor before cleaning?
I feel like it need to come out, but I know how delicate the pins area.....

Well, I feel comfortable that its as clean as I am going to get it. What concerns me is that while researching Intel site, it said to use all of the thermal material. Now what is all?? there are many sizes.( I bought the 3.5G) Does any one know what amt is sufficient?
