My Home PC switches off, then on again, sometimes. This can be bad for my PC, I am aware. Before I go to a professional, please tell me what can be the cause(s)?

Could be a hardware problem.
Open an elevated command prompt: right click on the command prompt > choose Run as Admin > Accept the UAC > then in the command prompt type: chkdsk %systemdrive% -r
Once that is done (its going to take awhile), download and burn it to a disk and run this program to test the ram.
