I copied a large .dbf file and the dBaseIV program to my Vista computer, but the .dbf file cannot be accessed. Is there a way of accessing and using my .dbf file? Thanks. Frank.

Undoubtedly there could be two reasons behind this problem. First could be the program which you have copied to your computer. I'm talking about dBaseIV program. It could be unsupportable for that .dbf file. Try that file in some other database program. And still if the file will be inaccessible then the second reason would be the main cause. And second reason is file corruption. Perhaps you have copied a corrupt .dbf file or the file has corrupted while copying. As an ultimate solution you need software which can repair that file.
SysInfoTools DBF Repair highly effective tool to help repair corrupt or damage DBF files.
Or if you want to see only the content of that file then just check the demo version of this tool. No need to buy the full version. But first try to open that file in some other database program. OK.......?

I haven't used Dbase in almost 20 years, but you probably need the other files associated with the .dbf file such as the indexes, etc. I don't have Dbase anymore so I can't tell you which ones they are.
