RAM usage question............?

The only items I have open are Firefox and BBC Radio's iPlayer Console, which allows me to listen to live radio.

Opening Windows Task Manager and clicking the Performance tab, I see that Total Physical Memory is 8124, Cached is 7000 and Free is 7Mb. Does this sound right?

This morning I was saving a batch of 24 large TIFF files (about 220Mb each) and I felt that they took longer than normal to save out.

What does Cached 7000 mean? Shouldn't I have more than 7Mb free with only Firefox and one other program running?

Thanks.

D.

I have half the Ram you have and half the amount free that you have. So, one would think that's normal.
Try resetting your Ram allocation by booting twice at startup.
