restore from external hd

hello
i have vista home premium and i used the backup option to my external HD.
few days ego my hard disc was demaged so DELL service replace it in a new one
without being able to restore nothing.
i was relaxed because i knew that i have whole computer backup on my external HD .
now when i trying to restore from the backup file in the external hd using the option "advanced restore" ,than choosing the external hd (local disc E:) ,than i see
a table that shows the time and date (29/10/09 12:46) of the backup ,but in the "backup location " it's written "backup location is not available" even though i can see the backup file when i using the the external hd.
please help..

Found this fix on another site, give it a try, good luck and post your results.

When using the Restore Wizard don't choose the 'simple' Restore Files button.

It can be confusing, since it says, "Restore your files from a backup made
on this computer." but because you reinstalled the OS, technically it's no
longer the 'same' computer.

Choose 'Advanced restore", and then choose "Files from a backup made on a
different computer."

At the next step, point the program to the location of your backup and you
should now be able to restore the files quick and easy.
