Yes, you just need to make sure the newer hard drive is compatible with your laptop (cables/voltage/etc.)

......done recently myself [see System Specs], from 120GB HDD to 320GB HDD, and now running very sweetly, with much more room to move.

Created a new personal data partition at the same time.

Before doing so, I made sure that the old HDD was squeaky clean, and that all applicable updates were installed. Changeover went without one hitch, and not one BSOD since.:D
