Vista Resets Cursors After Reboot

I'm running Vista Home Premium Version 6 (Build 6000) 32-bit SP2.

Vista does not save my customized cursor changes after I reboot. I change the
cursors and they stay changed until I reboot, then they go back to the
default Windows Aero scheme.

Also, when I'm in the Pointers tab of the Mouse Properties screen, the
Apply button is grayed out (disabled/unavailable/I cannot click it). I can only change the cursors by clicking the OK button.

I have found many posts with this same issue (also on Vista Business) and no fixes for it. I have been dealing with this since I got my Vista laptop back in April 2008 and it is very annoying since it seems like it's such a simple thing.

Does anyone have a clue how to fix this? Thanks.

PROBLEM SOLVED: Never mind, I thought I had the custom cursors in the Windows/Cursors folder, but I didn't. (For years I could put them in any folder.) Once I moved them there, now they save after reboot.

Although someone else said they've experienced this problem when Vista returns from Sleep mode. I'm hoping that doesn't happen to me after I finally "solved" the problem.
