"The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry"

I get this error every time I try to install or update just about anything. I had this same problem a while back and couldn't find any answers so I called DELL and paid for them to fix it because this is my business computer and I needed to install something right away. I just chalked it up to the price I have to pay for my LACK of computer skills. It worked fine for several months but now it's happening again and I don't want to pay for it again. I would like to try the quoted fix but I have no idea what "that user control THINGY" is or how to turn it off.

BTW, my OS is Vista 32bit and I have McAfee Security Center installed.

Thanks stoney,

I disabled the UAC, User Account Control (User Control Thingy), and restarted. It seems to have put a band aid on the problem (knock knock knock). I tried a couple things there were throwing that MUI error. Java updates installed no problem this time and I am now able to access my System Configuration window(MSCONFIG) again. I did try to enable the UAC again to see what would happen and when I restarted the problem came back. So I guess if you don't need UAC then you just have to deal with the Security Alert Shield in your task bar tray. or whenever you do something that throws that error you can just disable, do what you need to do and then enable again. Like I said it's just a band aid for now. Hopefully someone will come up with a real fix for this problem since it seems there are quite a few out there with this problem.

Now, I don't know much about the UAC but I'm assuming that if I'm the only user on this computer that I don't need it on anyway, Right? Or, is there some other reason I would want to have it ON?

I would just check that your system files are all OK.
Follow the tutorial and see if there are any errors in the system files.
Odd that it should produce these results when turned on, you may have to dig a bit deeper to fix this once and for all.

Struggled with the same problem "the resource loader cache does not have MUI entry"

Saw the advise of John of switching of the "User program control thingy". Couldn't find it but found "User Account Control" setting, switched it off, then chose to reboot, once rebooted set the control on again - It worked!!!!!
