I have many newspaper clippings in MY Documents. They are variously formatted (TXT, WORD, and PDF). Using Windows Explorer in Windows XP, I know exactly how to view these documents according to their date created or date modified. But how do I view these documents according to their date of publication? If I upgrade to VISTA, will I be able to do this?
1) There must be a way to attach "date of publication" as a property to TXT, Word, and PDF files.
2) There must be a way to view files chronologically in Windows Explorer - not according to their date of creation or modification but according to their date of publication.
Can someone please help?! Maybe someone writing a dissertation with lots of historical sources can feel my pain. I've been playing with MS Word Properties, and trying to create custom attributes but so far I still haven't been able to figure out how to a) correctly format a new attribute for Date of Publication or b) search for that customized attribute in Windows Explorer.
In short, I want to see all of my files in the order that they were published so that I can have a "timeline of events" based on saved newspaper clippings.
