Taskbar auto-hide no longer works

I've tried googling around but it's hard for me to make sense of it. It seems like there are different reasons for different rigs, that and any kind of software could be responsible. Anyone know what I could start trying? I don't even know when it started happening. I'm runnng Vista x64.

Hello Snowypup,

If it has not been to long ago since this happened, you may be able to do a system restore using a restore point dated before this started to see if it may be able to fix it for you.

do you have any sort of dock on your desktop? like mine for example:

there are some options that can hide the taskbar for itself. this could be interfering with the windows option. uninstall if you have a dock, then see if auto hide from windows works, if not, everyone replying and me will try to think of something :)
