winload.exe corrupt/missing - after 2nd hd removed

I'm trying to remove one of my two sata drives. I'm running vista premium and installed it originally on my c drive. I wanted to start fresh on new drive so I installed it on e and everything seems fine. When I boot I have two vista installs listed but after 3 seconds the 1st is selected and starts.

After removing the c drive I receive the error message winload.exe is missing or corrupt and I need to repair windows. I've attempted to do this but nothing works until I put back the c: drive. It seems like new programs are being installed on my e drive so I thought the 2nd install was a success. Since I pretty much muddle my way through most installs I'm worried about making a drastic change and then being unable to boot from either drive.

Thanks for the lightning fast response.

I moved the drive to the sata 1 position and attempted to repair windows. When asked which versions of windows do I want to repair I see vista premium (renamed with a boot manager about an hour ago) but the partition size is at 0. I attempted to repair this install anyway but eventually was told that the partition was corrupt and the repair was unsuccessful.

I went through the process again and tried the other vista install which I believe was on drive c (500 gig hd) where I currently have drive e (400 gig hd). It looked promising but after a reboot I had the same issue. I'm currently reinstalling the operating system and hoping that this fixes the problem. I have backups of my files but I'm hoping the non windows folders are left alone. Thanks again and hopefully I'm good to go!

Hi

Only use the HD you would like windows installed on.
