ClickFree backup drive

Can this drive be used as an external storage device? What if I tried to delete the embedded software? Would the device be seen as a ext.drive by Vista and used as such?
It's 320GB 5500 rpm. 2.5" disk.I backup my files using other means.Got this as a gift and want to make the most use of it.

I can't imagine it exploding if you did this, go ahead.

It would be recognised as removable storage and treated as such.

It's 320GB 5500 rpm. 2.5" disk. I backup my files using other means. Got this as a gift and want to make the most use of it.

At 320GB it is a perfect little backup drive.
