Power issues - after repluging to AC USB doesn't work, can't restart computer...

Hi!

My Vista problem is this:

I unplug AC and USB devices in order to work outside my working station...
After some time, when I replug the laptop to AC and replug the USB devices they don't work... No mouse, no printer, no smart card, no usb at all. Also I can't restart the computer as it freezes, so I have to shut it down "violently". I noticed that this always occurs when the battery is under 50 %. But sometimes it happens even at higher percentages. I've installed sp2, I've disabled the USB selective suspend both in power options and in registry... WHAT ELSE TO DO???
Thanks!!!

Hi ogi30 and welcome to Vista Forums

What happens if you shutdown your laptop before reconnecting the adapter and USB devices? Does it then restart correctly? How old is your laptop, and, more to the point, how old is the battery?

Thanks!
I'll try that.
I have IBM Lenovo sl500 1,5 year old. I had XP for all this time and it never occured. Only in Vista (which I installed 2 weeks ago)

I've tried restarting without pluging in AC or USB (battery was at 15%) and I could do it without any cpu freezing. Furthermore, when the system started I pluged the cables in and the USB devices worked. So, it seems that the problem occurs when the cables are repluged during one windows session.

And now, 12 minutes later, after I've disconnected and then reconnected the AC and the USBs the problem occurs again. After restarting the battery was at 15%, I pluged ac and usb in and, as i wrote prior, everything worked fine. Then the battery charged up to 20% and then I disconnected again, worked for few minutes and reconnected again... usb doesn't work and i'll have to restart "violentlly" again....

Also, in device manager, when i scan for hardware changes... the window "scanning plug and play compliant hardware" pops up and freezes. Nothing happens, it does nothing....

My Computer

Maybe I'm saying nonsense but it looks like the computer goes in to some weird energy saving mode that stops certain devices, processes and services....
