documents not showing up

Hi guys,
Hey I am getting a problem.. I have a laptop running vista and all my documents and pictures and music folders are showing as empty.. I removed the hard disk connected it to a test bed and run treesize and try to explore "my documents" but telling access denied or showing it as empty.. I donot want to take the risk of doing a restore as there were important files on there..
Any sugguestions...???

I am going to try to run it on safe mode and see and also check the folders options as whether it is not on hidden files..

Forum Thoughts??
Cheers

I have a HP 9xxx laptop running vista home premium and all my documents, pictures and music folders are showing as empty too. I also lost all of my "All Programs". What folders I have left are showing empty. I did a simple restore point from three days ago, nothing... I am also gun shy about a full restore from my backup disks. I was removing a stock HP help program and a VZ Manager program when I lost everything. I didn't think I was removing anything that would cause this to happen.
Any help would be great!

Excellent suggestions by dinesh and Flavius.

Quick and easy things to check first off:

Look in the Recycle Bin for the missing items.

Set your Folder View options to show hidden files and folders
and uncheck-Hide protected operating system files --- Just in
case a glitch has caused those attributes to be applied.

Best of luck!

If you have Home then you have to use Shadow Explorer instead ShadowExplorer.com - About
@Brink also say this in his tutorial which I gave you.

Thanks for your help guys
Being able to solve this problem out..
What i did is log on to the corrupted profile > it loads the temporary profile
Go on c: users / and select the user I want to get the data, you will be able to see all his/her documents there.. Copy all the dat either to a pen drive or external hard drive
Try to create a new profile with a different name, select administrator rights, If can't log on as guest then create the new profile
Log on under the new created profile and copy all the backup documents to the new profile and delete the corrupted one..
Easy as.. I do not know how to edit registry and stuffs so try other stuffs
Cheers guys
Thanks a lot
