Shadow Storage help

Can someone please help me out i have been trying to free up space on my harddrive over the past couple of days and i only have 50GB out of 285GB free currently. I came across the Shadow drive on these forms and i looked into it and i realised that it is currently using 40GB of my harddrive and the maximum alowwed space foor ti is set to 42GB. I was wondering if it would be possible to change thsi so its aorund 5GBs for the maximum ammount of storage. I also recently delted old restore points and that didnt do anything to reduce the 40Gb of space that is being used by the Shadowcopys on my laptop. If someone could help me out wiht this it would be highly appreaciated.

Yes, the maximum storage size for restore points and shadow copies can be changed. The tutorial below can help show you how to. If you have any questions on it, then please just let us know.

I tried those steps and wrote in the command prompt, vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: MaxSize=5GB, and i get an error saying "The specified volume shadow copy storage association was not found." Can you please tell me how to use it.

Could you post a screenshot of the results from STEP ONE when you run the vssadmin list shadowstorage command in a elevated (run as administrator) command prompt? This way I can verify what drive is being used to store these on.

In STEP TWO, did you also try the NOTE box under step 1B instead to see if that may work better for you.

Plus the command you posted above had a typo MaxSize. It should be as below instead.

vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /Maxsize=5GB
