Solved Switch on the Bottom?

My laptop inspiron 1515 (I know it starts with 15) has below it, a switch you can make "lock" in place and also has a picture of a lock next to it. I pushed it all the way and it locked in place, and I can't get it to go back where it was or unlock. Felt like breaking the thing but I thought maybe someone here would know what it's for. Did a search but no luck.

Thanks.

Can you post an image showing this switch and the exact model number? The only thing that I can currently think of is something to do with the battery.

Click to enlarge, and it's number 2. However the thing is, After I pushed it to the LEFT, it was locked in that place. Meaning, I can't push it BACK. Is this normal? Can it ever go back? Thanks.

Have you tried putting the battery back in? It should spring back tho as you were saying.

Where did I say it would spring back? And are you suggesting it would do so by placing in the battery?

Sorry I misread your post. I thought you said something about it not snapping back in place. In either case, my lappy has a similar switch and when the battery is out, it springs back.

On the other hand I don't want to tell you to replace the battery into the laptop and have it be stuck.
