Going from Vista HP-64 to 7 Prof-64?

I give up. All I'm trying to do is post a question to the Windows 7 thread, but it won't accept my user name and password. Seems to want me to sign up all over again, just to use the 7 forum. Does that sound right, or does someone have a control trip going. Why would I need to create a whole new identity just to use the 7 forum. I'm just worn out banging my head against this wall.

What I want to know is, is there any way for me to upgrade from Vista64 Home Premium to 7-64 Professional. It appears that I cant upgrade in place, but is there a way to save all my data and installed problems to easily migrate them over. I can't believe I'm the only person trying to do this. You can go from Vista HP-64 to 7 HP-64 or 7 Ultimate-64, but not to 7 Professional 64. So there must be a way to do it without intalling all the software all over again. Some migration problem? Why is this so hard??

Hello Freewheeling,

Thats right, to have the right to post on the Seven Forums you have to register over there. It is the sister forum and it's not the same as the Vista Forums. You can register and use your present name if available, of course.

I'm not sure about the possibilities to which version of Windows 7 you can upgrade from the Vista Premium, but seems like your only option is just the Win 7 Ultimate. As I recall right, you could upgrade to 7 Professional but from the Vista Business, only. I'm sorry.

Hope it helps. Cheers...
