Checking dissk on c:

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. Every time i start my laptop it comes up saying.....
checking file system on c.
the type of file system is ntfs
volume label is os.
one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. HOW DO I FIX THIS PROBLEM..?

do you let the chkdsk continue? You may be having the first signs of a disk problem. I suggest you go to the HD makers site and download a disk ultilty to test it. If you tell us what kind of HD we can help you find it

Hd maker what is this ? Yes i let it continue then it does its test then i sign in next time i turn my laptop off and on again i have to go through the same process.

Im sorry, what kind of hard disk do you have? If yoou dont know you can right click the dvd drive icon>go to properties>go to hardware. Let us know and we can help you find the right one

Ok western digital has a download page located here WD Support > Downloads > Select Product . pick you drive and look for the testing utility. Download it and run it on the drive. It will tell y9ou if there is a problem and if so what it is.

You sure about the WDC number? I went to western digital and searched for the WD1200bevs. there were no results. Could you check it again for me?

I still cant find this 1200bevs-75ust0 drive. WD drives in the US have names like western digital black and a model number.

Was the computer purchased in a different country?

My misatake. Let me investigate

EDIT: nope not western digitalin UK either. I think I am beating a dead horse on this. What you need is a utility to check your hard drive. I have to find a free one that works in vista.

When I find it I will put the link here. this may take a little while but I will be back asap.

Sorry about the delay. the HD utility has to be from WD. I would like you to type this in search. Type system information. then look under components>storage>disks and tell me what it says. also tell me how big it is. your computer is a laptop, correct?
