System restore can't find any disks to restore from

Vists Business. If I run system restore the program asks for permission and once given goes into limbo, if I try again it says system restore is running.

If I then restart and right click on computer then properties then advanced system settings and then the system protection tag in the available disks box it just says searching, for hours ,there are no restore points

Help !!!

Try doing from your recovery partition or recovery DVD.

the computer is running fine , it's just that anything that wants to set a restore point can't. Was working ok until SP2 failed to install

Hi Mike

Can do a System restore from Windows, or recovery partition or recovery DVD.

Or download sp2, & reinstall.

Download details: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone (KB948465)

I have not made myself clear. I do not want to restore I want to create a system restore point but system restore can't do it because it does not find a a hard disk it just says searching

I click on the windows bottom left, type system restore into search and then click on system restore . the program then asks for permission which I give and then nothing happens
