Problems creating new account

Hi,
I am trying to set up my new PC (first experience of Vista). I am unable to create any new accounts because it tells me the account names I specify are invalid (containing special characters). Which they are not - just simple alpha names. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Are you including any characters that are not alpha numeric?

You're only using the 26 letters and nothing else? was this an upgrade from a previous OS, or clean install?
