ok i havent been in the game for a while need some help

i had windows throw out an epic fail on its boot logs or something to do with the boot due to a failing hdd, went ahead and replaced it with a new one now cant get assecc to old files on other hdd it still works but cant with stand running all the time. i really need those files and cant get them if you have any tips or tricks please help

Take ownership of the files:

1. Right click on the File/Folder/Drive and select Properties
2. Click on the Security tab and Click on the Advanced button
3. Click on the Owner tab and click on the Edit button
4. In the Change owner to box, highlight your account
5. Check Replace owner on subcontainers and objects
6. Click on Apply and Click on Yes to replace all permissions
7. Continue to click on OK until you finish.

i have tried that i dont have permission and it wont load all the files like my doc and settings just the desktop short cuts and even then i cant back door my way in

i really need to get those files before the drive gose down for the last time. i know there still there

I would suggest using Knoppix as a way to recover those files. It is both free and effective.
