new DELL keyboard faulty

computer is 4 days old.keyboard going funny for no reason.nothing loose.
trying to email and letters sometimes dont appear or get stuck.i'll look up from typing long sentence and its missing bits. does that make sense?

pressing the keys feels the same as normal,nothing sticky yet when writing it 'sticks'. or i have to type very very slowly to get a letter out.sometimes it works ,sometimes it wont but then will give me many of the same letter in a row ie repeating it depending on how many times i've pressed..

i phoned Dell and they suggested i turn off computer and restart-no good.
and then said try a different keyboard so we can work out whether its that or a software program.
i dont know what to do now cos my old keyboard is wireless so i obviously cant plug it in like the current one.
how do i do this?
i am only a beginner so please can you only give really simple answers with detailed explanation/directions. its not my computer but my husbands so i dont know how any of it was set up. thankyou.

Have spoken with DELL again-they said it played up cos it was set to both USA english and Australian English. They fixed it to USA only and it seemed to work okay for a while but then went stupid again not long after.
i phoned them back but then got cut off after 2 minutes.
They have my mobile-thought they would call back but NO they didnt.

Any one have thoughts on the problem?.

you are just having tons of fun aren't you? is the keyboard wireless, usb, or ps/2? You know you could do yourself a favor if you filled in your system specs (in the lower right corner of your posts) once so we dont have to ask you every time you have a problem.

just tried but i dont know what most of them mean! I've got list in front of me from the packing slip but dont know how to translate

thats fine for msot things. My apologies if they were already there. should you ever want to find out more about your computer there are free 3rd party apps that will tell you everything. SIW2, everest, etc. You can even type system information in search and it will tell you alot.

Get a keyboard from a friend and try it out on your system. If there are no problems, tell Dell to send you a replacement at NO cost.

living alone here,no friends! but husband ready to return entire desktop if not sorted soon! spoke with DELL today- they have disabled background programs. so my upper horizontal icons gone ie recycling bin,email etc
and my right hand side clocks,calander,temperature etc. gone

how can a new computer not be able to support those things?
i understand that the icons at the bottom far right dont need to be shown but i'd like the desktop ones there.
i'm supposed to try one program at a time to see if its affecting the performance.
surely they dont truely expect that?

not to worry we will figure it out. I know its annoying but you have help. nI also have a dell and they aren't my favorite.

They are trying to eliminate as many posibilites as they can but they should have put it back when they finished.

So let us know how we can help.

Spoke with Dell today-keyboard still working ok since extras were disabled.

Said i wanted my side bar icons back.They did that and keyboard still working 8 hrs later.
So i better just be happy with that.
Is there easy way for me to enable upper horizontal icons again or shall i just LEAVE IT WELL ALONE??!!!!
