Mouse (?) causes system to freeze

Hi. Excuse me for copying/pasting but I've asked about this problem I'm having at many forums yet no one seems to either reply or have a solution. Anyway, here goes...

I used to use an optical mouse via the PS/2 port. Last month, I switched to a USB laser mouse from Logitech, the VX Nano for Notebooks. I had been using the mouse a month earlier on my laptop (HP dv2, Vista Home Premium x64) with no problems whatsoever. Unfortunately things do not run as smoothly on my desktop, an HP a6614f (Vista Home Premium x64).

For the most part, I do not shut down my system. I put it to sleep when it's not in use. After switching to the VX Nano mouse, my system often freezes after waking up from sleep. My only idea as to the cause is that it must be something with the mouse because I had never experienced this problem before switching mice. I have Logitech's SetPoint software installed. It is also installed on my laptop, which wakes up from hibernate with no problem at all.

Has anyone experienced this or have any solutions? Posting on Vista, Logitech, and Yahoo! Answers forums have yielded no results so I'm getting pretty desperate. My system doesn't freeze every time, but it does it often enough to be annoying. (At least once every one to two days; I generally wake up my PC about 3-4 times a day.)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
