Whenever I click on any of my folders they just won't open I cant even right click on them and press open!! no folders wil open it just says that windows explorer is not responding!! whatcan I do to fix this??

You might see if doing a System Restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had this error may be able to fix it for you.

I recently updated my antivirus and ran a full system scan but I alredy had this problem when i did that. I don't know wether a virus could've caused this probelm and if theres any way of fixing it without having to reinstall vista.

Are you able to boot into Safe Mode? If so, you can backup anything that you do not want to lose to be safe. Afterwards try disabling your startup programs to see if one of them may causing this.
