Solved Lost Windows Document Folder

New Member
I have an ACER laptop with a dual hardrive, so I decided I'd relocate my music folder so that it wouldn't clog up my main drive and allow me to store instead on the second. I accidentally did it to my Documents folder instead, and then after my Music folder. All is well but I now seem to have 2 Music folders to the D drive and no more Documents folder. Here is what I mean:

I wonder if you are looking at the same folder. Copy a file into one, and see if it appears in the second.

Go ahead and backup the contents in the duplicate folder at another location to be safe. Next use OPTION THREE in the tutorial above to make sure all duplicate or missing user folders are set to the default location. Now, delete all duplicate user folders. Use OPTION ONE in the tutorial above for the same duplicate and missing user folders. Restart the computer a couple of times.

The folders should be restored now. Now you can change (move) the location of the Music folder back to your D drive if you like. :)

Thank you guys, everything is back to normal. Now I have another question, not entirely Vista related but should be easy for you none the less. I want to make absolutely sure that no memory is taken on my C:\ drive by music. I have my limewire set up to save to the correct location, be before i re-install itunes, is there anything specific I should do with it? Install it in D? Change options? Etc...

Install itunes where ever but have it store music folder elsewhere see snapshot
