So let me tell you what happened. First of all I am running Vista Home Premium 64bit (I think) and I was trying to install Debian. There were problems and I had to abort the prosses. Then I tried to install openSuse over the debian partitions which ran into problems. The GRUB bootloader was downloaded however it didn't yet know which partitions to point to so nothing would load. I tried a few things after that which may have screwed stuff up.
I tried inserting the Vista recovery CD and tried to repair the start up form there. Needless to say that didn't work. I tried the command prompt commands but those didn't work either. Eventually I put something called Super Grub on a disk and booted that which was able to jump right to starting windows. This replaced GRUB with the started Vista loading boot manager. However now when I start up windows from the hard drive it stays on the loading screen and wont budge. I tried to put in the recovery CD and again this time it just stayed there loading. When I boot from safe mode it stops loading at one file every time.
At this point I just want Vista back and I don't really care if there is data or not because it's new and doesn't have important files on there.
I've read about restarting the CMOS too. It seems that something inside the computer needs to be reset. Unfortunately I'm running on a laptop, a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6960.
I'm trying this from another mac.
So there is my question. Can anyone help me? I really don't know what to do and I think I ruined a $700 laptop
Thanks so much,
