Hi folks,
Recently had an odd problem pop up with the system (specs available under my profile) and while I've done a lot of tinkering and googling to look for an answer I have yet to nail down anything concrete.
Primarily it seems to revolve around the alt-click context menu. I first noticed this while web browsing (using newest version of Firefox, but problem also manifests in IE). If I should alt-click on a photo I'd like a copy of, the menu comes up just fine. I can click the 'save as' option just fine. However - rather than downloading the file straightaway, or giving me a window to select a download destination perhaps, nothing at all happens. I don't freeze up, I don't crash, I don't blue screen. I can continue browsing as per normal. The download simply doesn't happen. This happens if I attempt a 'Save as' or a 'Save link as'.
The closest thing to my problem I discovered while googling was located here : (Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers). I downloaded the self-contained software mentioned in the article but haven't had any luck resolving the problem with it.
On a possibly related note - I also have occasion to use a piece of software called FileMaker Pro, a database software. (v3 - yes, ancient). What's interesting here is that the software is a self-contained directory. No installation hooks are ever put anywhere else. It's developed a never before seen quirk too now. If I go to create a new file, or open a new file, the 'browse' window where I would select the file refuses to open, effectively crippling new file creation. I -can- double-click an already created database, which then opens it for manipulation; However, if I try to import additional records into the database, again the 'browse' window to select the file refuses to open - both cases very much like the original Firefox/IE problem.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Additional information discovered in the past 24 hours. Using a Microsoft Office product, -will- open the browse explorer box and work perfectly fine. Trying to use a photostorage website however, will -not- bring up the browse explorer box. I can't help but feel this is all related. Any thoughts?
