Disc read error in vista

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem I have. Please excuse my poor knowledge regarding this matter, im a noob.

I got hold of a printer and I accidentally placed a printer software disc into my laptop (for drivers etc). The disc, i found out, was for an XP OS, not vista. Now Im getting :

A DISC READ ERROR OCCURRED, PLEASE PRESS CRTL+ALT+DEL TO RESTART

It will allow me to reach the point where i can get into the bios vis F2, but that is all....

Any ideas?

Check the connection of your hard drive.

remove your hard disk from your computer and connect it again.
