Solved Desktop Folder views not saving

Hello all,

I have only one item on my desktop, which is a "Tools" folder, and every so often, the views reset to folders first, then apps, in alphabetical order. I've set the folder options to "Remember folder views" and it still doesn't save. It's not a big deal, just really annoying, because the way I organize everything is much easier to access, then randomly, windows resets the folder view...

You can apply the download in METHOD TWO of the tutorial below to reset the folder view settings to have Vista remember the folder view settings of a folder window as they were when it was last closed.

Im in the process of doing that now, but when adding a new key named AllFolders under Bags, my Bags key has about 40 to 50 more keys underneath it... I have no clue what to do with them. Here is a screenshot explaining what I'm talking about, I'm still in the correct location, I just have more keys...

I would recommend to use the download instead. It does all of the manual section automatically for you without having to worry about making a mistake.

There wasn't a download, really there isn't even a "method three" or at least I couldn't find it, now with that applied, my folder view option "auto-arrange" is locked in the check marked position...

Don't fret over it, simple mistake. I deleted the keys I made like "AllFolders" since it was causing conflict. Never mind, even with it deleted I cannot uncheck the "Auto Arrange" setting...

I backed up my registry before I applied any of these changes, so I imported it back in and then started over, works fine for now :)
