Photo Gallery Won't Open JPEG Files!!!

Hi,

I have a new Dell computer with VISTA OS. For some reason we can't open any JPG files using Windows Photo Gallery. I've made sure that the associations shows WPG as the program to use to open, but it still won't work. However, I can see a thumbnail of the JPG file.

Here's the exact message I receive when I try to open the file:

"Photo Gallery can't open this picture or video. This file format is not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Gallery."

HELP!

Hello Tracey, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check to make sure that Window Photo Gallery is set as the default program with all of it's associations set to it.

You can also download the JPEG , JPG, and JPE downloads and merge them to see if restoring it's default setting may help from here. You may need to restart afterwards to apply.

Thanks, but this didn't work. I had already triple checked the default program status and it show Windows Photo Gallery and even shows the file extensions as jpeg, jpg, and jpe.

What else can I do?
