HP F4820 (x64) spools print job then disappears - no printing happens

Good evening to you all.

I'm at my mental end concerning my HP F4820 All-in-one printer. I recently upgraded my PC and also swapped to Vista Business x64. I also JUST purchased a the new F4820 for my home office. I've had no issues with anything other than my printer (I started with a freshly formatted hard drive).

Any print job goes to the print que and the page numbers spooling then exceed the actual document length (i.e when I attempt to print a 1pg file in Notepad, it initially shows as one but then spools anywhere from 9/1 or 12/1), then the job vanishes as IF it was printing. Nothing prints however.

My F4820 is marked as the default printer. I've attempted/performed the following trouble shooting actions:

1. Deleted the printer and re-installed it/drivers/HP software
2. Ran trouble shooting software from HP website - it showed that all functions were 100pct good.
3. Attempted #1 again - ensured x64 drivers were up to date again.
4. Changed USB plugs.
5. Contacted HP tech support. They said the printer was functioning nominally - it copies and scans with ZERO issues.
6. Removed the printer from sharing - at this point, I just need to get the thing to print (not having any luck).
7. Attempted yet another re-install and then searched through the forums here. It seems all the hits I had involved printer sharing issues (which is not my problem right now).

If anyone has any insight on something I am missing or a work-around concerning this, I will be ever-greatful. In all my years of building my own PCs, I have never encountered something like this (not being able to solve the problem, and wanting to throw the malfuctioning equipment out of a window).

Sounds like there's more than one computer in the house. Can you get the
printer to work right with another PC?

If so, as a work-around, maybe you could network to that other PC afterwards.

Ardneh,

Thanks for the suggestion. My laptop (on the network) is also running x64bit Vista. I thought it would be a bust, but it was worth a try. It was in vein though. I reinstalled the printer back on this computer AND replaced all the cables. I doubt they were suspect as scanning works 100% of the time. Still no success in the printing department. I even moved the USB over to a pure port on the PC versus running the printer through a USB hub to no avail.

I'm beginning to doubt my longstanding faith in HP. Or perhaps its vista 64 that should be shot. In either event, I've burned about 15 hours attempting to get this new piece of machinery working.
