Solved Changing User Folder Permissions -error dialog

Received an 'access denied' warning, then a "Propagation of permissions may lead to instability" dialog when I tried to add another User with full permission (which happens to also be an adminstrator) to the Standard User acct. I pressed "Cancel" but the change went through anyway.

Have I hosed my Standard User acct folder?

The reason I added the User-Adminstrator permission is that it is apparently not enough to be logged in the Admin Acct and have access to edit documents in Standard User acct -- even when Administrators have full permission on the folder. At least I experienced this.

Any guidance on how to fix this if I broke it is appreciated.

If you experience any problems after doing this, then you can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before this to undo it.

Thanks for the reply, Brink.

I found the "Access is denied" when changing permissions on a main User folder is a bit of a red herring: it applies to the junction points in the User folder -- like SendTo -- that should not be changed. The rest of the changes go through if you press Continue. I panicked and thought I'd really messed up and pressed Cancel -- which brought the Instability warning. Cannot tell yet if the changes that nevertheless went through are causing a instability. Thanks for the advice, I will Restore if problems arise.

Lesson learned: don't panic and press cancel if see "Access denied" on junction points when changing permissions -- or perhaps don't change permissions at all if you're a newbie like me. :eek:

BTW, I know what junction points are because of your tutorials, Brink! Great info.
