Hibernate Warning. How Do I Generate One?

When my battery runs low I usually don't notice it's happening until it's too late. On my last laptop under XP I was given a screen pop-up warning to plug in my power adaptor before it was too late. I've searched all over the Power Management section in Vista and cannot find this ability even though I'm sure it's there. Where is it?

Hello Jack,

In the Advanced Power Plan Settings under Battery, there should be a Low battery notification option to turn on.

Thanks Shawn. I checked. They are on. I get a little red icon overlayed on the power icon on the system tray, but it's too small to catch my attention. Is there a way to display it in a pop-up or to make a sound?

Jack,

I believe you should have gotten a normal notification area pop-up box letting you know for a brief moment in addition to the red icon overlay.

7 seconds is the default time for a notification to stay open, you might check to see what your settings are for it and if it is enabled.

There must be a better way than to have to mess with the registry to do this. What is MS thinking?

It should be set to by default, but this is just to check to make sure is didn't get unset some how.
