Solved Recycle bin empties itself

New Member
I have had this laptop (from new) about 8 months and have just discovered that the recyle bin is empty - I have never emptied it. That was yesterday when I noticed. Today I deleted some files and the recyle bin was immediately empty. How can I change this please?
I KNOW it's just trash but occasionally I have deleted the wrong file so I like to be able to have one more chance before it's gone forever.
I am using Vista home premium

In addition to having your "deleted" files sent to the Recycle Bin, you can also give yourself an additional warning to avoid anything being deleted without your knowledge. Just go into Windows Explorer, right-click the Recycle Bin, select Properties, and at the bottom, check: Display delete confirmation dialog. (And be sure to UNcheck: Do not move files to the Recycle Bin...)

Also, at the top of the Recycle Bin page, you can try clicking on "Restore all items" to see if you can get any of your deleted files back.
