Hey erm.... I went into safe mode, i've been having some wierd problems with my lappy, it just will randomly freeze up and then i have to shut it down... and wierd event-viewer errors/warnings. I went to do a system restore, it failed. I did memory diagnostics tool/check thing it said its fine, and same with the svc /scannow check and a bunch of other checks, all said laptop was fine. Is it a registery problem? I got all maleware removed... and im in safe-mode now and it isnt freezing up... then i need a registry cleaner or something.. its rly annoying cuz i just got my laptop back frm HP support cuz they had to replace my motherboard!! And yea... help pls ^^

Also: Cant turn on microsoft security center in safe mode. Dont kno if its bad...

Hello DarkDavil,

I think you should send it back to HP support if your still having these problems when you just got it back from them. :(

Seriously...? Now they're gonna cost money, because i think they wasted time sending it back it me, i got it on the last day of my warrenty!! But do you really think so? As we speak, in safe-mode w/ netwarking, im running my malwarebytes anti-malware scan(full computer) and also my windows defender full computer scan. I hope they find something. But anyway=== Is it normal to not be able to turn on security center while in safe mode? my firewall is still on...?

Think a CLEAN INSTALL of windows 7 will fix it ^^ Lol.... can be a good excuse to pre-orderQ!

It will not hurt anything to try a clean reinstall. Hopefully it will be ok afterwards. It's just not good customer service in my opinion to send a computer back that is working like that still.

from HP site: HP Notebook PCs*-* Using HP Backup and Recovery Manager*

Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible
If the PC cannot launch into Windows, it may still be possible to use the HP Recovery Manager on the hard drive to restore the computer to its original operating condition by first pressing the Power button to start the PC, and then pressing the F11 key to start the HP Recovery Manager. NOTE: Depending on the BIOS version, your computer may display multiple prompts during startup including F11 to start System Recovery. Pressing the F11 key on a computer with an HP factory image will start System Recovery even if the prompt is not displayed.

  • If the HP Recovery Manager can access the hard drive, a prompt is displayed to backup the user files before beginning the recovery. Follow any on-screen instructions.
  • If the HP Recovery Manager cannot access the hard drive to fix any system errors, use the set of recovery discs to recover the hard drive to its original condition.

OR if you can acess windows

Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager from within Windows Vista

If the PC can be started and launches into Windows, use the HP Recovery Manager on the hard drive to restore the PC to the original factory condition by following the steps below.
  1. Click Start
    c01403500.gif
and type Recovery in the search field. Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
    Alternately, click Start
    c01403500.gif
, All Programs , Recovery Manager , and then Recovery Manager . Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
  2. Click Advanced options , System recovery , and then click Next . The PC will restart.
Alternately, if Advanced options is disabled, click Next , and then System Recovery . The PC will restart.
  3. When the PC restarts, select the System recovery option and click Next .
  4. If prompted to use the Microsoft System Restore program, click No , and then click Next .
  5. When prompted, select the Back up your files first (recommended) option, and then click Next . Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. When prompted to Recover without backing up your files , please STOP before clicking Next .
This is the final opportunity to change your mind about recovering the PC and deleting all the files at this time. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped
  7. If you are satisfied that you want to begin the recover process, click Next . The PC immediately begins formatting the hard drive and destroying all data.
The recovery process may take up to several hours and will return the PC to its original condition. Any custom settings, drivers, software programs and updates, and/or hardware updates are lost and must be reinstalled.

DarkDevil,

Using the HP Recovery Manager will wipe out your hard, and restore your laptop back like the day you first got it. I would recommend backing up anything that you do not want to lose first.

The recovery itself should only take an hour or so, but setting all of your settings and installing any other programs that you had that did not come already installed on the computer may take a bit longer though.

If the recovery partition had gotten corrupted it could glitch and give you an error saying something like it cannot complete. :(

I have tried using Windows 7 X64 instead vista x64 - it does not freeze but was going sluggish.

Now I run Desktop (intel i7 processor) which is by a Battery UPS system where the battery run the PC and the battery is charging when main power is on- this means if power drops or is lost i am already on battery power still at full voltage and amps.

In this respect i am the same as laptop which has a battery.

what does this mean?? Vista appear for some reason now to be throttling back my clock speed to as little as 5% due to its power management battery settings- that is instead of having an I7 @ 3.20 Ghz i am getting i7 @ 160Mhz
Solution @ (worked for me despite mention AMD processor here)
