User Profiles and the Desktop Problem

I have 2 seperate users on my computer (Myself and my wife) and I noticed that when I install a game, it puts a shortcut on both Desktops.

The problem comes in when I delete the game shortcut from one desktop (My wifes) it deletes it from both.

My wife does not play games and would rather not have the shortcuts on her Desktop.

How does one manage Desktop shortcuts so that they can just be in one profile and not the other?

Hello Scorpiuscat,

Some programs will have the option during installation to allow all users or just your account access to the program.

If the shortcut is placed in the hidden C:\Users\Public\Desktop folder, then it will show up on all user account's desktop.

You can place the shortcut in the C:\Users\(user-name)\Desktop folder for any individual user account that you want the shortcut in though.
