System Restore Related Errors

New Member
Okay, So my laptop was powered down incorrectly by one of my family members. I power back up and realize there is a problem with my system restore utility.

Whenever I start up System Restore this error occurs:
Incorrect Parameter
And when I attempt to change any settings in the System Properties Box I get these errors:
Mapping Error 1
Mapping Error 2

Any help with these errors or advice would be of much help.

Hello Adstringo, and welcome to Vista Forums.

As a test, create a new administrator account to see if it works properly in it. If it does, then you can copy the contents of your old account's C:\Users\(User-Name) folders into the corresponding new account's C:\Users\(User-Name) folders.

You might see if you are still able to do a System Restore at boot instead, and use a restore point dated before you got these errors to see if it can fix it.

If not, then I believe it may take a clean reinstall of Vista. :(

Haha, the clean reinstall of Vista is just what I feared, but I guess that's probably my only way at this moment to solve this problem. I doubt my on boot system restore has restore points dating before this problem, but I'll try that also. Thanks for the advice!
