besides in the sidebar?
I want to see both cores at work and I've disabled the sidebar because it uses too much memory running in the OS's background.
Re: In Windows Vista, without using a special software, where can I monitor CPU usage
Hello Advice Pro,
You can use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and look under ther Performace tab to, or use
Resource Monitor looking under the CPU drop down area.
Hope this helps,
Shawn

besides in the sidebar?
I want to see both cores at work and I've disabled the sidebar because it uses too much memory running in the OS's background.
If you click on control panel/Add gadgets to sidebar/ you can get the gadget that monitors cpu, ram and cores; It doesn't have to run on the sidebar, you can undock it and move it to your desktop.
You can see some of the other gadgets they have also at the same time.

Re: In Windows Vista, without using a special software, where can I monitor CPU usage
Why do these two resources read different?
Task Manager shows both cores in two windows while Reliability and Performance shows one window w/ both cores.

Think of resource monitor as an overview and taskmanger as a usage breakdown. The data/usage shown is still the same.

Thank you Patrick. I believe that pretty much sums it up Advice Pro. Task Manager lets you see the usage per core, while Resource Monitor lets you see what is actually using the CPU.
