desktop icon loc, delay shutdown, folder view?

I'm still looking for applications to do the following:
1. save desktop icon locations so I can pu them after right location when icons are all piled up from left.
2. set up the time to shut down the PC by counting down or by a specific time.

I had WinTidy to save and retrieve desktop icon locations and another to shutdown PC on Windows XP, but they don't work on Windows Vista.

Another issue is the folder view, I still can't make Vista display the files, folders as I need it to behave. Sometimes they just cut columns out (eg. Date modified, file size, date deleted for recycle bin). I have to set the stack to show Free space on HDs all the time, it keep disappearing.

Does anyone know solutions to my Vista problems?

Have you installed SP1. I had this problem when I first started using Vista, but SP1 seemed to fix it.

Haven't been through the list for awhile, but might be something there for the shutdown.

Gary, thanks for the information. Although Iconoid does not work for me (can't hook up the desktop), the sites have some interesting tools. I' had the reg applied in the second page before. It fixed some but not all. I still had problems as I described.
