Start menu and all the bottom-of-screen stuff has disappeared

Hi. I've just arrived, so site is unfamiliar.
My start menu (+ clock and other bottom line stuff) has completely disappeared without prompting.

How do I get it back again?

Hello Ancientbrit78, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might double check to see if you have autohide turned on for the taskbar. If you do, then moving the mouse pointer over it should have the taskbar pop back up.

If you do not have autohide turned on, then see if restarting the computer may help. If not, then try a System Restore using a restore point dated before this problem.
