Solved NeeDSiE needs a reg key

I shall start from the beginning of why i need someones key for a registry entry,
i have a creative webcam that will not work with vista, so after using it with XP, i got sick of having it on my hard drive, so i bought a cheap camera so i can use webcam on vista, unfortunately, when i came to install it, the camera installed but kept getting a code 10 driver could not load. So after a few trolling sessions to find a resolution, i found i had to edit a key in the registry, in this case : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} and delete the upper and lower values to allow driver load. after a restart, everything looked good, my camera is now loading up and drivers are working

any solutions?

Hi Dave,

I'm not sure what happened, but I exported that entire key for you to be able to restore yours with if needed. Have you tried installing the drivers in Compatibily Mode?

thanks for the quick reply shawn, ive tried everything known to man, and its got me stumped, thanks for the key, i shall try it and see if i have some success.

Edit:
it looks like it hasnt worked, i'l uninstall it and reinstall, a fresh key may still do the trick.

It isn't working :'( im getting the same "this graph cannot preview" again, and i also tried it on windows live to see if it was the amcap software

looks like im fresh out of ideas :/

Umm, what are the name and models of each webcam?

I have the Creative WebCam Instant that only has a XP driver available for it, but works fine with Vista and Windows 7 if I install the driver for it using Compatibility Mode with XP selected.

the logitech is a quickcam,

which will work on vista x32 but refuses point blank to work on vista x64, this camera is a technika H16WC-01

which shows up as PC VGA Camer@ Plus on windows vista, the camera does work on windows 7 x64 and xp x32 but not my version of vista, i know that if i plug any camera in, i will get the same errors, my TV card did the same thing when i tried to install the old creative, no picture, i think i may need a repair install of vista to fix this issue, thats why i came to the conclusion that i needed a key for the registry as it only affects imaging devices.

For the Logitech Quickcam Messenger, I found these drivers for XP. They did not have Vista available. You might see if installing it using Compatibility Mode with XP and with/without "Run as administrator" selected may work.

ive tried everything to get the logitech to work, and it wont, it will work on vista x32 but not x64, so ive given up on that, but the logitech installation has corrupted my registry keys, and now i cant figure out for the life of me what is up with it, and it only affects imaging devices, i may just do a repair install on vista, it should fix my registry shouldnt it?
footnote, i bought the technika webcam as my g/f uses it and shes using vista x64 on her sony vaio laptop.

I couldn't find anything reliable for the Technika webcam. What is the website that it gives you for it for support?

sorry to revive an old thread, but its getting rather close to RTM for 7 and i cant keep using the release candidate for my camera, i decided to have another stab at it, the repair doesnt work at all anymore, says it was unsuccessful and ive tried every type of trick in the book with the registry, im at a loss and i really dont want to fresh install vista

someone help please?

yes, it does exist, but i dont want a logitech service on my system, its the main reason that it doesnt work, ive tried a few things yesterday including reinstalling logitech drivers because i heard that a newer version of logitech drivers fixes imaging devices.

let me clarify what is happening...

i had a logitech quickcam which doesnt have any vista drivers for it, so i tried to use xp drivers to get it to work, before i used to watch tv on my vista install on media center, after i installed logitech drivers, the cam didnt work or install, and my tv card stopped working (by stopped working i mean it was installed but no signal was being detected), so i thought nothing of it and bought a new camera, this is the technika camera im using now, this installs and windows reports it as working, but as soon as i open up amcap, it says "cannot preview graph", and when i try to use it on any other software, it says that the camera is in use by another person or program (which its not). the same thing happens to my tv card, no picture or signal is being recieved, tried a friends scanner and it doesnt work either, saying that its been detected but its being used by another person or program, im at my wits end.
Help!!!

Are u having any 0x80040154 class not registered message in your event viewer?

Open up your amcap and make it to give the message (graph cannot preview) :D, and search for the message which i stated above in your appliction and system log, related to that time when u got the message.

nothing showing up im afraid

nothing in the last hour anyway, i think this is a registry problem, but i cant really be sure, its like trying to find a needle in a haystack :S

Open regedit and navigate to hklm\system\currentcontrolset\control\class. right click on class and click find, type quick and click find next.

right click on the class id for quickcam and export. Upload here

Upload all the keys wherever you find quick.

every key thats in there, is for quicktime player and file associations, its ok delphin, ive decided to reinstall vista, ive backed up everything and im ready for a reinstall. thanks anyway.
