I have been using these Buffalo TeraStations as my back up file storage. I have had 2 of the die in the last month. One had a defective hard drive, it was about 7 years old, and due for replacement, not enough space. The other was only a few years old and the system had a hardware problem. Data was OK, but unit is defective. (it was diagnossed by their tech support).
I also need to replace an old Intellex Security Camera DVR that is still running windows 2000 and the proprietary software is not compatible with Vista.
I was thinking of putting together a new PC that could handle both jobs.
Here are my thoughts.
Intel Quad Core - Not sure which one
One 500GB Hard drive for operating system and software.
2 - 1.5TB Drives for Video Storage - in Raid 0
2 - 1.5TB Drives for Data Storage - in Raid 0
or combine all 4 drives in Raid 10 and then use part for data and part for video.
Any suggestions......
