Solved Blank Page for Windows Experience index

Hi everyone!

It has been a long time since I checked my WEI and I decided to check it today. I was greeted with the first attachment ("Capture1").

Then I clicked on the WEI to check how each of my components rated.

It was blank!! (see "Capture2"). :huh:

Has anyone any idea how this happened? Or how to fix it? It doesn't bother me that much, but I would like to see it back...

Appears you corrupted the registry. Using reg cleaners by chance?

You will have to do Method 2 (your version does not have group policy editor)

Resolution

This happens if a policy is set which removes access to the Performance Information and Tools page. If you're the administrator of the system, follow one of these methods below to relax this restriction:
Method 1: Using the Group Policy Editor

• Click Start, type GPEDIT.MSC and press ENTER. This opens the Group Policy Editor.
• Navigate to the following branch:

• Double-click Turn off access to the performance center core section
• Set it to Not configured

If it's already set to Not Configured, set it to Enabled and click Apply. Then revert back the setting to Not Configured. This resets the registry based policy if set already.

• Repeat the steps in this branch as well:

• Exit the Group Policy Editor.

Note: Group Policy Editor is not available in certain versions of Windows Vista. If your version of Windows Vista does not have the Group Policy Editor, follow the registry editing method instead, which is listed below.
Method 2: Registry edit





To automate the following steps, download perfcpl_enable.reg file attached at the end of this article. Download the REG file and save to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge.

• Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
• Navigate to the following location:

• In the right-pane, delete the value named PerfcplEnabled (if found).
• Repeat the same in the following key:

• Exit Registry Editor.

Problem solved!

I used Method 2. However, there was a problem with the second step where it says

"Repeat the same in the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Control Panel \ Performance Control Panel".

This registry did not exist! It existed us to "Windows" but there was no control panel option. But, when I checked my WEI, all was normal! Proof is in the picture!

If you were using reg cleaners (performance booster), I suggest you scan for and fix any corrupted system files:
