Entire Documents Folder In Recycle Bin

Don't know how this happened but I deleted a coulple of files from my Documents Folder (Documents, Music, Pictures, Recently changed, etc.), and the whole Folder ended up in the Recycle Bin. I now have an exact duplication of my whole folder in the Recycle Bin. If I delete a file from the copy in the Bin, it deletes it from the Folder on my desktop. The "Empty recycle Bin" option is grayed out. How do I get rid of this duplication? It's taking up about 3 GB of my hard drive so obviously I have somehow copied all my files to the recycle bin. What do I do???

Can you restore from your Recycle Bin by right clicking? That would be your best option and then start from scratch.

When I right click on the recycle bin I don't get the "restore" option.

You might also check to make sure that the Documents (Personal in registry) folder has the default location set for it in the registry using METHOD THREE of the tutorial below to see if that may help in case it got tied to the Recycle Bin location somehow.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure you understand. When I double click the Recycle Bin my whole documents interface is there with the Documents, Pictures, Music, Recently changed, etc. All the files are there and if I delete a file from one of these folders in the Recycle Bin, it also deletes it in the Documents folder. When I first double click the Recycle Bin the drop down menu says, "Recycle Bin" Below that it says Organize, Views, empty Recycle bin and Restore all items with a green arrow (when I click on the arrow nothing happens).
Then down the right side there are all of the Documents items (Documents, Pictures, Music, Recently changed, Etc.) If I click on "Documents" I get the Organize, Views, Slide Show Burn options and all of the files are there. "Music" options "Organize", "Views" "Play all" "Burn" and all of my Music files are there. In other words I have an exact mirror image of my Documents interface in the recycle bin and any file that I change there is also changed in the Documents Folder. I hope I'm making myself clear, because nothing like this has ever happened. I ran Disc Clean, Advanced Disc Clean, and the Disc clean app. that I downloaded and tried to delete this from the recycle bin. (I have all my files backed up on dvd). But it would not go away. When I run Disc Cleanup it shows 0 bytes in Recycle Bin (empty??) Thanks for your patience.

Fred if nothing else works try a complete system restore and see if that helps. Restore it to a time before this happened, (obviously)...:D

Ran system restore and the documents folder is still in the recycle bin. Someone suggested creating a new user account, transferring my files nad deleting the old account, but I can't find a "Delete User Account" option under "User Accounts"

You would need to delete the old account from within the new account instead to see it.

thanks. Maybe I'll try that. Just a quick thing that I didn't mention....After I did the system restore, the file that I deleted from my documents folder reappeared, so I know I went back to a place before this happened.
